About VG Chimalgi

Our firm V. G. Chimalgi (VGC), trading in all types of Photographic Equipment was established in the year 1924 on the 28th of October, the original location was Shop No. 3, James Street (now M.G. Road), Secunderabad.

It was founded by Sri V. G. Chimalgi, in his name. VGC was a pioneer in wholesaling and retailing of photographic hardware like cameras, stands, lighting equipment, and consumables like chemicals, film, paper, photo mounts, photo albums, etc.

We also had a studio for taking photographs of customers, the studio catered to students, professionals etc for ID photos, recently wedded couples for post wedding photos, group photos, babies, children, and family photos.

Right from the beginning, we made a name for fair trade practices with customers and suppliers. So much so that 3rd. & 4th. generation descendants of the original customers and suppliers continue to patronise VGC.

With our vast experience, we are familiar with the latest technology and can and are willing to advise and make suggestions to customers. We go the extra mile in giving the right advice, many times recommending a cheaper alternative than the product selected by the customer.

I visited Jubilee Hills store with a Canon lens issue after hearing wonderful things from multiple sources about the store & staff. But I must say that my initial experience was not good. The deadline committed to me for sharing the quote of fixing the lens was not just missed once but thrice. This was clearly a turn off and not what I had expected from them after hearing good things about their work ethic. Just then Mr. Sethu got involved and took matters in his own hands.
